My Approach

Evidenced-based nutritional counseling focused on sustainable habits and long term change. Because you are ready to say goodbye to the overwhelm of where to begin and sow the seeds that grow results.

Clinical interests include cardiometabolic, digestive, pregnancy & postpartum health.

Precise

Your nutritional plans will be concise, easy to follow, and meticulously constructed. Expect around 3 reasonable, precise dietary adjustments recommended at each visit, in addition to possible stress, movement, and sleep recommendations.

Personalized

You are unique, as are your nutrition needs. Unlike a group program, the focus is purely on you. This allows for in-depth analysis of your case and individual accountability. As a functional nutritionist with a holistic perspective, factors like style of living, genetic variants, and culture are taken into consideration. Customized recipes, shopping lists, and handouts are tailored to your specific nutrient and lifestyle needs.

Backed by Science

Recommendations are evidence based and follow the most current scientific research. I take the guesswork out of what you read on the internet and sort out fact from fiction. I will work with your healthcare providers, not against them, and will always stay within my scope of practice, referring out as necessary.

mindful

Health can be found at every shape, and all bodies are unique. Food can be an emotional topic and change is often uncomfortable. While I am here to educate and guide, you will first and foremost be listened to, and given a plan that you are ready to follow. Level of readiness, lifelong and recent habits, culture, tradition, preferences, and food availability are all considered.

People of all racial and cultural identity backgrounds and beliefs, nationalities, affectional and sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions are welcomed here. I offer nutritional counseling to those undergoing/have undergone gender affirming therapies. This practice is committed to ongoing anti-racist education and acknowledges systemic racism in wellness spaces.

Hi, I’m Alexis.

I went back to school for a Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition degree to help myself, so that ultimately I could help others.

I always had considered myself a “healthy eater”. However, diet trends, conflicting advice, and an assumption that I could figure out on my own how and what to eat to best serve myself only added to the burden of autoimmune and inflammatory conditions that I faced. Often, in the face of fatigue I’d say “I know what to do, I just need to do it.” If only it were so simple. If only I knew that it didn’t have to be so hard.

Having spent almost two decades in the natural health and supplement industry, I regularly delved into the science of botanicals and micronutrients and realized how often improved health can begin with food. However, what I didn’t know about food ended up being astonishing.

Rigorously trained in a cutting edge MSCN program, I now understand the science of food and metabolism as well as the nuance of individual nutrition. I am fascinated by and well educated in nutrition topics such as nutrigenomics (how genes affect food and vice-versa), the gut-brain axis, inflammatory cascade, and the vast frontier of cellular mechanisms involved in nutrient metabolism. Just as important, I know how to bring simple and healthy meals from around the world into rotation at home without long shopping lists or major time commitment.

While food can be simple I now know that changing how one eats is not easy, especially without support and accountability. This change also does not happen overnight. The how, why, and when we eat matters greatly and is highly personal, beyond the metrics, labs, and previous diagnoses that I analyze. Eating does not need to be totally “clean”, involve foods you don’t like, ignore your culture, or feel restrictive in order to be what’s best for you. It’s okay for food to bring joy, and be free of guilt.

It was in academia that I learned how to best serve my health, and I now welcome you to let go of the overwhelm and enter a clear, secure space where science & accountability join empathy & flexibility.
